Single Malt Scotch, is there anything better? No way! I visited three distilleries in the Highlands, but a small sampling of those available. It was great to see the source of the wonderful flavours I can enjoy in the comfort of my own living room or pub. The pungent aromas in the distilleries are wonderful, you can almost taste the Scotch, and you do get to at the end of the tour. Dalwhinnie is 'the highest distillery in Scotland' at nearly 1000ft elevation. It's in the middle of nowhere, located on a picturesque plane in the mountains. Oban is in downtown Oban and had the most informative tour, good for a data junky like myself. Glengoyne is only 30km from Glasgow and the only single malt that is dried without the use of peat.
